As a flooring professional, you know the uncertainty you feel when closing a deal with a new lead and securing a new project. From measuring and estimating to closing the deal, the process can be time-consuming and confusing for both you and the customer. That’s why it’s important to understand the frustrations your customers go through when trying to buy new floors.
First, let me tell you a story about my experience as a customer looking for my own flooring installation service. My wife and I recently had a flooring installer come by and give us an estimate. He came to our house, used a tape measure, and took notes about the total floor area. He was friendly and left a good impression. A day later, he emailed us a quote.
Afterward, we asked a few other installers to come by and provide us with their quotes. Their processes were very similar to that of the initial flooring installer.
All of the quotes were more expensive than we expected. So, we waited, digested every detail, and put some money back to help pay for our new floors. After a few months, we asked the original installer to come back and provide us with a reassessment and a new quote. He re-measured, took new notes, and provided us with a new quote the next day.
Unfortunately, his new quote failed to match the first one. It was far more expensive, and I had to create an Excel spreadsheet just to make sense of it and compare it to the previous quote. Some of the same items were cheaper – some were more expensive. Even our square footage was bigger than it was listed previously. It was difficult for us to understand.
Thus, we lost faith in both his pricing and his process. The flooring installer appeared neither as consistent nor as professional as we had first hoped.
The moral of this story is that when we were ready to get new floors from an installer we preferred among all other installers we met, his process and inconsistency lost him our business. But if there had been a solution available to streamline his process and make it more consistent and efficient from the beginning, what might have happened?
Floor plan apps are powerful tools for helping both flooring and remodeling contractors streamline their operations and close more deals. Let’s take a look at some key factors in why contractors are changing their business processes with new floor plan apps:
Floor plan apps with these features are must-have tools for flooring and remodeling contractors looking to streamline their operations. Plus, they’ll dramatically increase contractors’ chances of closing more deals.
