A conversation with Groupe Cassous

Written by Sabrina Schneider | Nov 1, 2022

Groupe Cassous is a family-owned and independent group located in France with 40 subsidiaries and more than 1,300 employees sharing the same passion: construction. For over 50 years, the group's companies have been creating innovative solutions for local and regional players. I recently spoke with Dorian Violleau, Cassous Group's Digital Integration Manager, to find out why and how their company uses magicplan.

Could you tell me a bit about your role in your company?

I hold the position of Digital Integration Manager within the Cassous Group. My responsibilities include:

  • Studying the various functional solutions and specific needs of subsidiaries and more specifically, integrated companies
  • Writing expressions of needs
  • Providing the functional elements to allow the realization of the projects
  • Training business employees in best practices and new features
  • Accompanying the business collaborators during the deployment phases
  • Communicating on software developments to the business lines

magicplan is used by 60 employees in 2 of our subsidiaries: Coren Rénovation and Temsol 4,388 projects have been created on the application since its launch and already 1,013 this year!

How long did it take you to learn magicplan?

magicplan is very quick to learn! This is one of the reasons why we chose the solution. I carry out a 2-hour training course for each new employee, which is enough. After all, nothing replaces the hands-on practice onsite.

How did you discover magicplan?

By monitoring the different tools, the conventional tools were powerful but too heavy for our needs. We wanted a solution to save time on a daily basis.

Do you remember the first time you used magicplan? What were your thoughts?

The tool was really innovative compared to the competition. This is a very advanced tool, technologically speaking but within everyone's reach.

What was your process like before implementing magicplan?

  • Clutter during customer meetings with paper files (several at a time), measurement tools, notebook
  • Measurements made with a tape measure and/or rangefinder and a sheet of paper
  • Obligation to return to the office to carry out an additional, "clean" version of the plan
  • Drawing of the plan with ruler and pencil
  • Photos taken with a phone or camera, must be transferred to the computer
  • Photos not related to the plan and the room concerned
  • Difficulty finding the right photos for each file because of the quantity
  • Sometimes lack of precision in the notes because it is complicated to note on the sketches and without associated photo which really represents the reality

What do you think is the best thing about using magicplan?

The user-friendliness of the tool and the quick learning curve for our employees along with the advanced options of the tool if the site requires it. Slightly more basic options, such as 2d plans, are also very useful to us.

What is your process for working with a client?

  • Receiving client consultation request
  • Appointment booking on site
  • Visit + Measurements + Plan + Report (magicplan is involved here)
  • Study based on measurements taken (magicplan is involved here)
  • Sending the estimate to the prospect / client
  • Work planning
  • Reception and Invoicing of the work

What does your usual day look like? How does magicplan fit into your workflows?

During meetings with customers, our engineers draw up their plans directly on the future site. The measurements taken there with magicplan allow the realization of a project and creation of the estimate that we send from an internal software.

What is the main benefit for you when using the magicplan app?

To allow to have all the elements such as geolocation / plans / annotated photos and notes merged together and to allow the generation of a report with just one click.

Do you use the magicplan Cloud?

Yes, all our plans are synchronized to the Cloud for more security.

If you had to describe magicplan in one word, what would it be?

Innovative

What is your favorite magicplan feature?

LiDAR technology for measuring parts in augmented reality and the reliability of the information measured thanks to the pairing with lasers.

Thank you so much, Dorian at Groupe Cassous in France!
